Visiting the Delaware River Region

All the vibrance of spring returns to New Jersey’s Delaware River region. Communities from Bordentown and Westampton to Thorofare and Williamstown are eager to welcome visitors with a season full of special events, activities, and kid-friendly fun. Whether you’re on a business trip, a jaunt with friends, or vacationing with the family, there’s much to see and do in west central New Jersey this time of year.

There are all sorts of ways to get outdoors and soak up some warm sunshine this spring. The weather is right for a visit to Rancocas State Park, 20 miles south of Westampton. The 210-acre park features three miles of multi-use trails and is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Rancocas’ 2016 Summer Camp for kids goes June 27th through July 1st.

Two miles north of Thorofare, Red Bank Battlefield Park and the Ann Whitall House are open for summer history lessons and outdoor recreation. Sundays this spring and summer, the park hosts Heritage Sundays, a monthly event featuring historic reenactments of 1700s life in New Jersey. Check the schedule during your visit to be a part of the edifying fun.

Thorofare visitors traveling with four-legged friends won’t want to miss Pet a Palooza 2016 on April 9th. It’s an afternoon of pet adoptions, a pet talent shows, pet fashion shows, and pet supplies sales along with live music and entertainment throughout Haddonfield’s downtown area, just minutes north of Thorofare.

Travelers to Bordentown and the Trenton area can spend a relaxing spring day at the Kate Gorrie Butterfly House in nearby Pennington. Visit August 13th to be a part of the 2016 Pennington Butterfly Festival. Expanding this year to showcase the new 930 Watershed Reserve of the Platinum LEED Certified Watershed Center, the 2016 edition of this local-favorite event promises displays by local artisans, delicious food, an insect zoo, hay rides, nature walks, and the Butterfly and Bug Parade – all starting at 10 a.m.
