Thomas Edison & Morristown Park
The Morristown National Historic Park, for example, features three different historical sites once housing George Washington and the Continental Army during the harsh winter of 1779.
Visitors traverse over 20 miles of hiking trails winding through the dense forest, connecting Jockey Hollow, Fort Nonsense, and the Ford Mansion.
Each site features its own integral offering to Colonial America and the American Revolution and outstanding sight seeing opportunities.
One of the most popular sights within the Morristown National Historic Park, though, is the Wick Hall. Named to the National Register of Historic Places, the Wick Hall served as the quarters for Major Joseph Bloomfield during the Revolutionary War.
Guests are invited to explore the building and catch a glimpse of the timer frame construction and large size, typical of Colonial New England homes.
Just a short drive from the Morristown National Historical Park, the town of West Orange and just outside of Newark, the Thomas Edison National Historic Park showcases the life and work of one of America’s most influential and famous inventors.
Visit the site and take the renowned self-guided tour through the Glenmont Estate – featuring walk-throughs of Edison’s home and laboratory complex. The 20,000 square feet of exhibit space surely has enough to peak anyone’s interest – whether it’s the chemistry lab, phonograph demo, or “The Great Train Robbery” silent film display from 1903.
