Visiting Atlantic City & The Jersey Shore

Spring and summer on the Jersey Shore are the seasons to enjoy events, festivals, and fun. Batter up! The Lakewood BlueClaws take the field at FirstEnergy Park for the 2014 season in April. Enjoy a day at the ballpark with family and friends at a BlueClaws game through August 28th. Look for special weekend fireworks after the game and kids eat free games.

Smithville, north of Pleasantville and Absecon in the Atlantic City area, celebrates the start of summer at Mayfest in Historic Smithville. Held May 17th & 18th, Mayfest features over 100 artisans and craftspeople showcasing their wares.

Kick off summer with some friendly competition in Atlantic City. New in 2014, The Fire on the Water Festival features the Firefighter Combat Challenge, along with the Guns vs. Hoses competition pitting police against firefighters in an amateur boxing tournament. Held in Gardner’s Basin May 17th and 18th, come out and cheer on our first responders.

Beach E on Sandy Hook Beach is the place to be Wednesday evenings for the 2014 Sandy Hook Foundation Beach Concerts. A popular summer tradition, Sandy Hook Gateway National Recreation Area is 20 miles east of Hazlet. The concerts begin on June 18th with After The Reign, and continue through the end of August.

Sand sculpting is a summer tradition, however the 2014 Do AC Sand Sculpting World Cup takes it to a new level. Held in Atlantic City on the Missouri Avenue beach, see the best sand sculptors create masterpieces June 19th through July 6th. Prepare to be amazed at what can be done with sand and water. The event is free and adds a great diversion to a weekend at the beach.

The 40th Annual Monmouth County Fair takes place July 23rd through 27th. Held 12 miles south of Hazlet at the East Freehold Showgrounds, the 2014 Monmouth fair is a summer tradition. Join family and friends for midway rides and games, food, and exhibits of the best home grown and produced products in Monmouth County.

The Atlantic City Air Show returns to Atlantic City Beaches in 2014. Moving to August, Thunder Over the Boardwalk is a must experience weekend on the Jersey shore. The U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team, and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds return to AC this year.
