Visiting Atlantic City & the Jersey Shore
Atlantic City, the historic seaside getaway and East Coast gaming capital, is a year-round destination. Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall, located on the Atlantic Coast in the heart of the Atlantic City resort area, has a full calendar of entertainment for 2016-2017 fall and winter. Check out current events at the Atlantic City Convention Center, tour the Absecon lighthouse – and, if you’re feeling lucky, you’re in the right spot to toss the dice.
Traveling the Delaware River region of New Jersey? Thorofare’s Cap’n Cats Clam Bar & Tavern off Interstate 295 on Crown Point Road, is a great stop when you’re craving classic seafood dishes. If classic Italian is your choice, stop by Gia Nina’s Pizza, located 2 miles east of Thorofare, in Woodbury. This region of Southern New Jersey is located across the Delaware River from Philadelphia International Airport and the Philadelphia Naval Complex.
Travelers north on the New Jersey Turnpike find Westampton and Bordentown convenient stops for food and lodging. North of Rancocas State Park, Westampton Township is less than 15 miles west of Fort Dix and McGuire Air Force Base. If there’s a game on TV you’re missing, stop by Recovery Sports Grill for a bite to eat and an update on the game. For a great breakfast, check out Mugshot Diner nearby in Mt. Holly.
Bordentown, six-miles south of New Jersey’s capital city of Trenton, is an easy stop for visitors in the capital area. West of Interstate 95, the New Jersey Turnpike, Bordentown keeps travelers out of the congestion of Trenton, and is also convenient for visitors to Princeton, 20 miles north.
Bordentown has a variety of fine restaurants for the foodies in the crowd. Toscano Ristorante on Farnsworth Avenue, is a good bet for Italian food. For Japanese cuisine and sushi, try Tsukasa on Crosswicks Street. In nearby Hamilton Township, the Malaga Spanish Restaurant and their sangria, make a meal to remember.
East of Williamstown in central southern New Jersey, is the Pinelands Wine Trail. A great getaway for wine fanciers, the Pinelands Wine Trail is a 65-mile loop through the heart of southern New Jersey wineries. Enjoy the scenery of Wharton State Forest, as you travel north of the Valenzano Winery, Burlington County’s first winery. And to the south, across the Atlantic City Expressway, discover Bellview Winery and Coda Rossa Winery, north of Vineland.
